We are looking for a dedicated and compassionate Education Support Assistant who is passionate about empowering young people. The Education Support Assistant contributes to the effectiveness of learning by assisting teachers with the day-to-day operation of the classroom. Working under the direction of a teacher and in collaboration with the wellbeing team, the Education Support Assistant provides support to a small group of students or to individual students, particularly those with learning needs, disabilities, or disorders, to overcome educational barriers and achieve their learning outcomes. The position also assists the classroom teacher with monitoring and managing student behaviour, as well as undertaking logistical tasks to ensure the efficient operation of the classroom. Duties: Under the direction of the classroom teacher, prepare and maintain teaching and learning resources as required. Provide general administrative assistance, including updating case notes and class programs, photocopying teaching materials, compiling student records, assisting in organizing off-site activities, ordering appropriate equipment, and completing class attendance records for each session. Provide information to the wellbeing team about students’ personal, social, and emotional difficulties, while maintaining confidentiality and privacy. Maintain a supportive culture with students, safeguarding their health and safety. Create and manage a caring, supporting, purposeful, and stimulating environment conducive to student learning. Create a safe learning environment for all students by providing supervision during on-site and off-site educational activities. Provide supervision and assistance at special events such as excursions, depending on the nature and severity of the student’s disability or learning need. Actively support and promote independence, encouraging students to do for themselves what they are capable of. Participate in practices that reduce the risk of child abuse, including adherence to reporting processes, implementing safety strategies, and fostering an environment of participation and empowerment for children.
